Writer Revealed – writing courses to transform the writer

The Writer Revealed creative writing course has a new home – Quay Place, Ipswich, (IP4 1BZ) opposite Dance East.

This is a creative writing course with a difference. It focuses first on the writer, peeling away the layers that can hold us back and stop our creativity flowing, all of which has positive knock-on effects on your writing.

I have written the course using my own (sometimes painful!) experiences as a writer, and pass on tools and tricks I find helpful in developing a stronger more resilient relationship with my writing. It has developed from my work with hundreds of writers at workshops around the UK for the Young Walter Scott Prize, and the Windling Collective, as well as from countless conversations about writing with people that I meet in my life.

The first step is to develop an awareness of what might be holding you back. We will do this through a series of guided exercises. The next stage will be to peel away self-limiting beliefs, whatever form they might take, and the final stage will be to mix up your approach to writing, to have the confidence to experiment and have fun.

Along the way we will be finding inspiration in some pretty unlikely places and delving into the rich palette we each hold inside us.

The course is designed to accommodate all writers, whatever stage they are in their writing, and whatever genre they choose.

The six-week course starts on 8 May – 12 June (18.45 for a 19.00 start – 20.30). You can book the whole course (there's a special offer if you do) or, depending on availability, you can book individual sessions as a taster to the approach.

I had fun speaking to Georgina Wroe about the Writer Revealed course on BBC Radio Suffolk yesterday. You can listen again here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0633x8z
(I am just over half an hour in.)

Writer Revealed courses will help put the pizazz back into your writing practice. I've developed this approach through working with hundreds of writers over ten years, as well as from my own writing experiences, and countless conversations about writing with people I meet.

The aim is to gently peel back the layers that build up between you and your writing practice – to help you develop a happier, more fulfilling relationship with your writing whatever stage you are at in your practice and whatever genre you like to write it.

Previous participants have got a lot out of my courses. Their confidence has grown, they have managed to drop some habits and thinking that were holding them back, and as a result their writing has got stronger, more flexible and they have felt more proficient.

I am currently taking bookings for a taught course at Quay Place, Ipswich, UK – opposite Dance East.
Other day workshops at locations around Suffolk will be added during the year.

I have also launched a new online self-study course – thirty writing and reflective tasks giving you Writer Revealed inspiration, that you can follow at your own pace and wherever you are in the world.
